EXPERIENCE IBUKA ART & DESIGN EXHIBITIONS

As contemporary art and design continues to grow in popularity in Nairobi, a team of creative students at the University of Nairobi known as Ibuka organizes experiential exhibitions for young, up and coming visual artists. The exhibitions are thematic and showcase an average of ten artists and designers every month. They create an interesting experience in the display of artwork by breaking the rules of traditional exhibition where artwork is placed on plain walls, at equal distance from each other.

In Ibuka exhibitions such as the October 2013 edition dubbed “Under Construction”, the A.D.D. building hall was turned into a mimic construction site where artwork was propped with all manner of equipment such as ladders, wheel barrows and bricks to create an interesting display of the art.
